What kind of world do we live in when a flooring company can’t make a decent handheld gaming console?
TheSefirosu200x
@Sun Wukong I know every one you’re talking about, except the one making them park rides? What game console manufacturer is that?
TheSefirosu200x
@BandomBeviews I wanna know the shipbuilding company you’re talking about.

Just FYI. Most rear engine super cars are designed to break in half in a crash to separate the driver from the engine.
Roborav
@GoredonTheDestroyer Yeah so a cat splitting in half is more risky than a car that stays intact. Would you go in a car at high speed that split in half when it crashed on a motorway?
GoredonTheDestroyer
@Roborav Let me put it this way – Think of a car like the Ferrari Enzo as a fighter jet. In the event a fighter jet is disabled, the pilot is able to eject to safety.
The reason many open-wheel racing cars, and ultra-high performance super cars, have engines that break away from the vehicle in the event of a crash, as “risky” as you insist it is, is to lessen the crashing vehicle’s potential energy in the event of a catastrophic crash. Personally, I’d rather be in the passenger seat of a Ferrari Enzo that’s had its engine compartment torn away after a 200+mph crash versus a ’69 Dodge Charger crashing at _100._ This is a deliberate safety feature that Ferrari learned through _decades_ of racing research, development and testing. I _really_ don’t see what’s so hard to understand about that.

@Roborav well, i do comments on old reply, but not stupid as yours :p

I remember wanting this so badly when I was 12 years old, I saw it in a magazine that was comparing the gizmondo vs the psp, I thought the psp was stupid and that the gizmondo was the coolest damn thing ever made. I’m glad my mom got me a psp for Christmas a year later

Wow, you were dumb when you were 12. xD

Savannah Simpson
Daniel and Jess Awfully giddy about a giant corporation tricking people into wasting even more money aren’t you?
Eric Truong
Savannah Simpson it’s not about that anyways, the question is if they succeeded. They did what they did didn’t they and they didn’t back down. Apple isn’t even that bad anymore. Stop riding the hate train when it’s not really warranted anymore. 16 inch MacBook Pro and the IPad can’t really be shat on, they’re great for what they are for.
Gernot Schrader
@Caustic Groyper That won’t happen as long as some dudes are armed with a soldering iron.

@Daniel and Jess That’s the difference the reality distortion field makes.

@Gernot Schrader i better get into soldering, then.

Seems like people that take photos of bigfoots, ufos and ghosts etc, all still use Gizmondo cameras.

Just keep in mind, the same year the PSP launched! This thing is a big joke.
Learning With The Smiley Yellow Face
@gogomonow So when is the newst PSP gonna come out?
exactly.
gogomonow
@Learning With The Smiley Yellow Face when’s the newest ds gonna come out? Exactly
Learning With The Smiley Yellow Face
@gogomonow The 3DS is still going on. But, when’s the newest psp gonna come out? Exactly.
gogomonow
@Learning With The Smiley Yellow Face the psvita came out the same year as the 3ds and was officially cancelled a few years ago but there are still being games released for it plus the major homebrew scene. The 3ds is dead.
Mr Domo
@gogomonow there are still being games released for 3ds as well and the 3ds has a massive homebrew scene as well

McAfee is some really bad software. Theres a reason they try to force it on people when they buy new computers.
ZosoHacker
I did some design and photography work for Gizmondo. I went to their HQ when it was all falling apart. What a shabby set up. Full of miserable half-hearted staff.
Amazed I got paid.
Nigel Cam
What they should have done was lobbied to get GPS as a mandated safety feature in handheld games, then they would have been the only one who could sell anything.

Me too. If you called in sick they got the Swedish mafia to shoot your knee caps.

@LegendFPV How much did Microsoft/Nintendo paid you to write this comment?
Dominick Boren
Yeah, this guy is a fake.
Adrian Hall
@beeman4266 I don’t agree. It has a lot of features, most of which are designed to a sensible spec given the target market. I think there were some mistakes in the design (most notably the screen aspect ratio), but I don’t get the sense that they were born out of indifference.
DoubleATam
Ah, so they decided a device designed to track your children was less ethical than a trojan horse game console designed to track your children *without their knowledge*.
Fuzzy Dunlop
It seems they subscribe to the ‘it’s not a lie if people don’t realize it’s a lie’ school of thought, although it sounds like the people behind this delectable piece of technology didn’t have being ethical very high on their list of priorities to begin with lol..
MiG2880
Much like all ‘smart’ technology… They’ve actually managed to trick people into paying hundreds to ‘bug’ themselves, placing video and audio surveillance devices in their homes at their own expense. Then when they leave their home, they are tracked / listened to / watched by their smartphones.
I’ve watched in horror over the last twenty years as 99.9% of people around me have been falling over themselves to usher in a new era of authoritarianism. At no point did they consider not buying these devices. They didn’t even question it. At this point I consider humankind to be a lost cause. I can’t help but despise my own species for their pitiful weakness. SMH
Red
@MiG2880 Sounds like you don’t know about the data and privacy menu found on most phones’ settings app.
If you did know about that, I’d say you’re a conspiracy theorist.
Otherwise, that’s a human rights violation! So you could then just sue them.
As for the video/audio surveillance devices, I could slam a hammer on my Amazon Echo, crack it open, and see no camera. Audio surveillance… I can just unplug it when I’ll probably never use it.
I don’t even really use my phone, yet I defend this
maybe I just really like technology
Gustavo
do you trully believe that changing privacy menu settings does anything?
Red
Gustavo Ok, sure, but that’s a bit of a human rights violation I believe and all the people who make the phones must have the phones
Sooooo it would be inconvenient in many different ways to have data privacy do nothing
And besides, we’re already on a website that collects our data for ads and much more. You shouldn’t be here if you don’t want your data shown to google.
Besides, do you want to go back to the technology of IBM computers without internet? And have it be like that for the rest of your life?
EdgyShooter
“He doesn’t care much about principles”
Seems quite fitting for the founder 😂
Gernot Schrader
Yeah but did you see where he got with that? Me is a “Prinzipenreiter” someone who lives his principles, where am i? a starving unknown, so if you like to starve stay to your principles else throw them over board.
Алексей Гриднев
@Gernot Schrader you didn’t spend 7.5 years in jail like that guy, did you?

I heard they’re aiming for a 2020 release of the “Gizmondo Boko Haram” edition.

Our GPS also has windows CE, and some games. For example “Russia blocks”
guess what it was.
A crappy clone of Tetris with different music.
wdu1
Well tetris is Russian blocks…………
Gernot Schrader
@wdu1 that’s what i thought as well, it was developed first by lemme see…
Alexei Leonidowitsch Paschitnow
But what fucks me up is to read in first place “platforms: nintendo” as if it would be a nintendo development. OK, after a short peep into this history it’s even worse as i expected. These Nintendo bloodsuckers never payed a red cent for the successor Tetris to Alexei.
Thus it always was to me and it will be always a russian game and predecessor to many !
And nintendo will stay whatever they do goddammned bloodsuckers and plagiarists to me.
Something of the worst in videogame industry, in my opinion at least.
They would sell the same used cars to you it won’t matter as long as the profit is high enough what they sell, preferably hot air because that costs nothing.
Юрий Кондратов
@Gernot Schrader you mean Алексей Леонидович Пажитнов?
Panini
I love how the only one with a happy ending was the car that got split in half.
EmperorFaiz
And then, the car was restored and sold. What a happy ending.
Onyx Fusion
That means that technically, Gizmondo was worse than a car crash.

if he was a friend of Phil swift the car could’ve stayed one piece
